BORN TO WIN

VARSHA

FOUNDER

When we talk about humanity, there can be various perspectives to look at it. The most straightforward way to understand humanity is this simple definition – everything that makes you human can be considered a part of humanity. This can be love, hope, faith, fear, and much more. All these attributes are a part of humanity because you experience them regularly while living your life.

The Pride of Humanity awards 2021 initiated by Take Care International Foundation are being held in the hope to recognize outstanding humanitarian services and positive actions by individuals. The Pride of Humanity award recognizes the world’s most influential and accomplished humanitarian workers from all walks of life.

What started as a homely agreement to not burn crackers on Diwali among 2 brothers now stands as a whole venture to save the planet. Back in 2012 when Jai and Preet came running home telling their mom that they are not going to be bursting crackers on Diwali, unlike any other kid that would wait for the whole year to do so, no one knew where this small step to lessen pollution would be taking them to. It was in no time that their brave little understanding hearts were felicitated and celebrated throughout their school and started becoming news to outsiders. This made Jai Aswani then 9 and his younger brother Preet only 5 take matters in hand along with their mother to initiate people to accept ways to help the overly polluted world.

Jai being an avid sportsperson who was involved in long-running and a regular marathon participator started to gain attention from none other than Ms.Kiran Bedi who not only gave them advice but wholeheartedly supported them in all their initiatives. The origin of the ‘Born to Win’ organization was from this moment and with only one purpose in mind to live in cleaner and happier tomorrow. They decided to take up the challenge and to face whatever came their way with positivity and have never looked back since. After the Say No to Cracker initiative, they straight away got onto their next plan which was the Rise4Rice where the organization collected donated rice from people and distributed it to orphanages and old age homes. This initiative was well into action as they had exceeded their initial objective and collected and donated a whopping 5 tons of rice to the needy and all this in just one month. Following was the He4She where the organization wanted to raise awareness on the mental health of women and how anything related to the said topic should be taken seriously. They feed the needy by distributing kits for those in need. Then they had the Say No To Plastic Bags campaign where they collected old bedsheets sets from hotels all over Chennai and made cloth bags out of them to donate to the shop keepers to avoid them from using plastic bags. They donated nearly 1lakh cloth bags as of 2019.

As times have changed drastically due to the ongoing pandemic this showed no hindrance to Jai and Preet as they continue to strive for their objective of a cleaner and happier tomorrow. ‘Born To Win’ has launched two new initiatives that they are now working hard to put into action such as the i)carry your own cloth bag ii) Feed the needy.

Their social work was a clear indication of the fact that there is no age to doing good things. It’s always the smallest steps taken today that lead to bigger changes for tomorrow.

Pride of Humanity being an initiative to acknowledge humanitarian workers, your contribution towards the wellbeing of society was nothing less than a moment of appreciation. We hope nothing but the best for your future endeavors and hope that this award stands as a stepping stone for you to continue in this path of kindness and giving and to always lead as a humanitarian worker. Once again congratulations!

“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
